Who is the FMC-CMF

 
Established in 1993, the Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) is a community, non-partisan and non-profit organization.  The FMC-CMF represents the collective and common interest of the Muslim community on issues relating to public policy and defends and protects their civil rights.
 

FMC-CMF's Main Role within the Society

  • The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) is a founder and active member of:
    • Québec's anti-war movement (La coalition Échec à la Guerre)
    • The Coalition for justice and peace in Palestine (CJPP)
    • The Canadian Muslim Network

  • The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) is an active member of "La ligue des droit et liberté"




 
 FMC-CMF's Main Achievements

  • FMC-CMF is one of the first to participate in public consultations such as theCommission Bouchard-Taylor 2007-2008 and the Québec educational reform in 1996

  • FMC-CMF coordinated the effort of Québec's civil society groups and individuals (55 groups and 390 individuals) in a declaration of citizens in response to the questions of the reasonable accommodations (November 2007)

  • FMC-CMF coordinated and organized the first ever lobbying day for Muslims and Arab Quebecers in the Canadian parliament, where the delegates of the majority of the Québec Muslims and Arab associations met with the caucus of all the federal parties, in Ottawa (February 14th, 2007)

  • FMC-CMF coordinated the effort of Québec Muslims (63 groups) in response to the Toronto arrests (June 6th, 2006) and the Carton issue (February 9th, 2006)

  • FMC-CMF works to defend civil liberty and human rightsas such is thecase for Omar Khadr, Maher Arar, Adil Charkaoui, Mohamad Benis and Freddy Villanueva

  • FMC-CMF encourages civic participation in the activities of the political parties

  • FMC-CMFissued its reports and analysis for provincial and federal parties during the general elections in 1997, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and the by-election in 2008
